Why Use Technology?
Take an inventory of what you got for Christmas...was it an I-pod or an I-pad, a DS-I or an e-reader? A digital camera? A new computer? Technology can be found in almost every household. We are part of a digital world and our children are drawn to technology. Even toy companies like V-Tech and LeapFrog are marketing it. So, if technology can engage my students and help them learn skills they need for the 21st Century, then it only makes sense to use it in my classroom. Studies have shown that students need to be actively engaged in meaningful, authentic activities in order to learn critical thinking skills, collaboration, communication, teamwork, and self-direction. Technology motivates students and using technology in the classroom works.
